Premier League Hall of Fame 2025: Six Manchester United Legends Among 15 Star-Studded Nominees
The Premier League Hall of Fame is set to welcome two new football legends in 2025, and the competition couldn’t be tighter. A total of 15 iconic players have been nominated, each having left a lasting legacy in England’s top flight. As always, it’s up to the fans to vote for their favourites, with the voting window open until September 15 on the Premier League’s official website.
What makes this year’s shortlist stand out is the strong presence of Manchester United, with six club legends nominated. Among them is the no-nonsense Serbian defender Nemanja Vidić, known for his fearless tackles and commanding presence. He is joined by Edwin van der Sar, the only goalkeeper on the list, who brought stability and class to United’s backline for years. Also in the mix is Patrice Evra, the energetic left-back loved by fans for his passion and overlapping runs. Gary Neville, another United stalwart and long-time right-back, is also up for consideration, alongside Michael Carrick, the calm and intelligent midfielder who was often the glue in United’s midfield. Rounding off the Red Devils’ nominations is Teddy Sheringham, whose clever movement and experience played a huge role in United’s 1999 treble.

Outside of Old Trafford, there are more big names fighting for recognition. Michael Owen, once a teenage sensation for Liverpool and later a Ballon d’Or winner, is on the list. His goal-scoring talent made him one of the most feared forwards in the early 2000s. Manchester City’s golden era is represented by midfield wizard David Silva and powerhouse Yaya Touré, two players who redefined their positions and helped transform City into serial champions. Arsenal fans will see familiar faces in Cesc Fàbregas, the Spanish playmaker with incredible vision, and Sol Campbell, the commanding centre-back who played vital roles at both Arsenal and Tottenham—although his controversial North London switch remains a hot topic to this day.
Eden Hazard is another standout nominee. At his peak with Chelsea, he was simply unplayable. With two Premier League titles and countless highlight-reel moments, Hazard remains one of the most electrifying wingers of the modern era. Other forwards who made the shortlist include Les Ferdinand, a consistent goal-getter with over 100 Premier League goals; Robbie Fowler, adored by Liverpool fans for his clinical finishing; and Jermain Defoe, whose longevity and natural goal-scoring instincts kept him among the league’s top strikers for nearly two decades.

The selection process for the Premier League Hall of Fame started in 2021, when eight legends including Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, and David Beckham were inducted. The following year added more big names such as Wayne Rooney, Patrick Vieira, Didier Drogba, and Sergio Aguero. In 2023, the list grew again with the likes of Tony Adams, Rio Ferdinand, and Petr Cech. Last year, the Hall welcomed Andy Cole, Ashley Cole, and John Terry. So far, only two managers have been inducted—Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger—both of whom left monumental legacies in English football.
With just two spots available this year, fans are faced with a tough choice. Each nominee brings something unique—leadership, flair, consistency, or simply unforgettable moments. Whether you lean toward a strong defender like Vidić or Campbell, a magical midfielder like Silva or Fàbregas, or a natural finisher like Fowler or Defoe, the decision won’t be easy.
But that’s what makes the Premier League Hall of Fame so special. It celebrates players who not only performed at the highest level but also inspired generations of fans. The winners will be announced shortly after voting closes, and they’ll join an elite group of football royalty.
So, who gets your vote? Will it be a Manchester United legend, a Chelsea magician, or a City hero? Head over to the Premier League website and have your say—your favourite player could soon be immortalized as a Premier League Hall of Famer.
And with so many legends still waiting in the wings, you can bet that next year’s nominees will be just as tough to pick from.
