FKFPL Weekend Recap: Kaddu Double Seals Tusker Win as 10-Man Sharks Hold AFC Leopards

The FKF Premier League action this past weekend delivered a series of exciting matches, with George Kaddu’s outstanding performance leading Tusker FC to a commanding 3-1 victory over FC Talanta. In another clash, Kariobangi Sharks showcased their resilience, holding AFC Leopards to a 1-1 draw despite being down to ten men. Elsewhere, Ulinzi Stars and Kenya Police played out a goalless stalemate as both sides continue to struggle to find their form.

Kaddu Powers Tusker FC to a 3-1 Win

In the early kickoff on Sunday afternoon, Tusker FC took on FC Talanta at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Talanta came out strong, opening the scoring within four minutes through Bernard Odhiambo’s well-taken penalty. The early goal put Tusker on the back foot, but the Brewers quickly regrouped, determined to get back into the game.

Just three minutes after Talanta’s opener, Tusker center-back Thomas Teka rose highest to head home a Mike Oduor corner, bringing the match level at 1-1. This goal sparked a wave of Tusker attacks as they took control of the game, piling pressure on Talanta’s defense.

Tusker’s relentless attacks paid off in the 28th minute when George Kaddu found the back of the net with a calm finish, giving the Brewers a 2-1 lead. Kaddu’s clinical composure in front of goal was a testament to his growing influence in the league. His contributions did not end there, as Kaddu doubled his tally in the 60th minute. After a free kick from Dennis Wanjala was flicked on by Shaphan Siwa, Kaddu positioned himself perfectly to guide the ball past the goalkeeper, sealing Tusker’s 3-1 victory.

With this win, Tusker climbed to fifth place on the FKF Premier League table, amassing eight points. The victory marked their second win of the season, a crucial result for head coach Tusker, who will be looking to maintain this momentum moving forward.

Kariobangi Sharks Show Resilience Against AFC Leopards

In the late fixture of the day at Kenyatta Stadium, Kariobangi Sharks extended their unbeaten start to the season by holding AFC Leopards to a 1-1 draw. The match was a lively contest from the first whistle, with Sharks taking a deserved lead in the 19th minute through Frederick Alushula, whose well-placed shot beat Leopards’ goalkeeper.

AFC Leopards responded before halftime, with captain Victor Omune rising to head in an Arthur Gitego corner, leveling the score at 1-1. The goal boosted Leopards’ confidence as they sought a winner, but they were met with strong resistance from Kariobangi Sharks.

Sharks’ task became even harder when they were reduced to 10 men with just 18 minutes left on the clock. Despite being a man down, Sharks displayed remarkable resilience, thwarting Leopards’ attempts to secure a winner. The draw leaves William Muluya’s Kariobangi Sharks in third place, while Patrick Aussems’ AFC Leopards remain just one point behind in fourth place.

The game highlighted both sides’ grit and determination, with Sharks showing why they remain undefeated this season despite playing under challenging circumstances. The draw will serve as a learning moment for Leopards, who will need to capitalize on opportunities against weakened opposition.

Ulinzi Stars and Kenya Police Share Spoils in a Stalemate

Elsewhere in Meru, Ulinzi Stars and Kenya Police played out a goalless draw at Kinoru Stadium, with both teams still searching for their first victories of the season. The match was a tightly contested affair, with both defenses proving difficult to break down.

Neither side could find the back of the net, and the result leaves both Ulinzi and Kenya Police at the lower end of the table. Ulinzi Stars, after four games, sit in 16th place with two points, while Kenya Police, with two games in hand, occupy 13th place, also with two points.

The goalless draw marked the third consecutive game in which both sides failed to score, further highlighting their struggles in attack. Both teams will be looking to turn their fortunes around in the coming fixtures to avoid slipping further down the standings.

What Lies Ahead

With the FKF Premier League starting to take shape, Tusker’s victory puts them back in the conversation for a top-four finish, while Kariobangi Sharks’ unbeaten run continues to impress. AFC Leopards, though held to a draw, remain competitive at the top end of the table, with room for improvement in their finishing.

For Ulinzi Stars and Kenya Police, the season has not gone to plan so far, and both teams must regroup quickly to turn their fortunes around. As the season progresses, it will be crucial for these teams to find solutions to their goal-scoring woes if they hope to climb up the table.
