Al-Hilal wasted no time asserting their dominance, with the first goal coming just 11 minutes into the match.

Marcos Leonardo opened the scoring with a precise left-footed shot, finishing off a headed pass from Aleksandar Mitrovic.

This early strike put Al Shorta on the back foot, and it was clear that the home team had no intention of slowing down.

Just four minutes later, Al-Hilal doubled their lead. A well-placed corner by Renan Lodi found Mitrovic in the center of the box, and the Serbian striker made no mistake, powering a header into the bottom left corner. At 2-0 up within the first quarter of an hour, Al-Hilal already looked unstoppable.

Al Shorta struggled to keep pace, and although they had some brief moments of possession, they rarely threatened Al-Hilal’s defense.

Mahmoud Al Mawas and Mohammed Dawood tried to spark some life into the visitors’ attack, but repeated offsides and misplaced passes made it difficult for them to gain any momentum.

As the first half drew to a close, Al Shorta found themselves pinned in their own half, with Al-Hilal dominating possession and creating chance after chance.

Despite a few stoppages for injuries, the hosts continued to control the game. A long-range effort from Rúben Neves almost added a third before the break, but the half ended 2-0 in favor of Al-Hilal.

The second half began with Al-Hilal maintaining their attacking intensity. It didn’t take long for them to add to their lead.

In the 47th minute, Salem Al-Dawsari struck a brilliant right-footed shot from outside the box, placing it into the bottom right corner. The assist came from Mitrovic, who once again demonstrated his playmaking ability, setting up his teammate with a perfectly weighted pass.

At 3-0, the match was all but over for Al Shorta, but Al-Hilal wasn’t done yet. Nasser Al-Dawsari made it 4-0 in the 73rd minute after some great work from João Cancelo, who found him in the box with a clever pass.

Al-Dawsari calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner, further underlining the gap in quality between the two teams.

Despite being four goals down, Al Shorta tried to create a few opportunities. Mohanad Ali had their best chance with a powerful shot inside the box, but Al-Hilal’s goalkeeper was equal to the task, making a comfortable save to keep his clean sheet intact.

In the dying moments of the game, Mohamed Kanno put the final nail in the coffin with a stunning long-range strike.

His powerful right-footed effort from outside the box flew into the top right corner, capping off a perfect night for Al-Hilal. The assist came from Mohammed Al Qahtani, who had come on as a substitute and made an immediate impact.

Al-Hilal’s tactical approach was impeccable throughout the match. From their high pressing to their quick transitions, they left Al Shorta chasing shadows for most of the game. The fluidity of their midfield, led by Rúben Neves and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, allowed them to dominate possession and constantly feed their attackers with opportunities.

Aleksandar Mitrovic was instrumental in the victory, not only scoring but also providing key assists. His ability to hold up the ball and bring others into play was a crucial element of Al-Hilal’s strategy. The chemistry between Mitrovic and his teammates was evident, particularly in how they seamlessly combined to break down Al Shorta’s defense.

Defensively, Al-Hilal was solid, with Kalidou Koulibaly and Ali Al Bulayhi effectively shutting down any attempts by Al Shorta to get forward. The few times that Al Shorta managed to break through, Al-Hilal’s goalkeeper was there to make the necessary saves.
