Comeback Kings! Kenya Police FC Outgun KCB to Claim FKF Premier League Lead

Kenya Police FC stormed to the top of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League standings after securing a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over KCB on Saturday.

The Law Enforcers entered the match knowing that three points would catapult them above Tusker FC, who are set to play their match against Mathare United. With the pressure on, Police overcame an early shock to bag their 14th win of the season and move into pole position in the 18-team table.

KCB Shock Early but Police Hit Back

It was KCB who struck first at Kasarani Annex, silencing the Police faithful with an early goal. Only seven minutes into the match, Patrick Otieno pounced inside the box, drilling home from close range after a flowing move down the left.

The early goal rattled Police, but their response was swift and effective. A dangerous corner delivery into the KCB box led to chaos, and in an attempt to clear, a KCB defender accidentally bundled the ball into his own net, handing Police the equalizer.

The goal forced KCB into a major early blow as Brian Opiyo suffered a serious injury during the chaotic goalmouth scramble, colliding with the post. He was substituted and replaced by Bonphas Munyasa, disrupting the Bankers’ defensive shape.

Despite Kenya Police dominating possession and creating better chances, the first half ended 1-1.

Second Half Changes Deliver Victory

Coach Francis Baraza made key tactical adjustments at halftime, introducing Marvin Nabwire and David Simiyu for Clinton Kinanga and Brian Musa. The changes paid off almost immediately.

Just five minutes after coming on, Simiyu turned home a smart cross from Nabwire to complete the comeback. His well-timed run and clinical finish gave Kenya Police the all-important lead.

Further substitutions followed to tighten control, with David Okoth replacing Duncan Okoth, and later, Tyson Otieno and Kenneth Muguna coming on for Alvin Mangeni and Eric Zakayo.

KCB tried to push back but struggled to find a way through Police’s organized backline. The Law Enforcers expertly managed the game to full-time, securing a valuable three points and moving to 52 points after 28 matches — with 14 wins, 10 draws, and only 4 losses.

Meanwhile, KCB remained sixth with 41 points from 10 wins, 11 draws, and 7 defeats.

Shabana Boost Title Push, Nairobi City Stars Struggle

At the Dandora Stadium, Shabana FC kept their title hopes alive with a 2-0 win over bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars.

Despite dominating the first half, Shabana had to wait until after the break to break the deadlock. Keith Imbali, who recently joined from Kariobangi Sharks, opened the scoring in the 52nd minute with a fine strike.

Darius Msagha then added a second in the 71st minute to secure maximum points for Tore Bobe.

The win means Shabana remains fourth with 46 points after 28 matches, six points behind leaders Kenya Police. For Nairobi City Stars, the result leaves them rooted at the bottom of the table with just 24 points, and facing the real threat of relegation.

AFC Leopards Roar Back to Life

After a tough run of results, AFC Leopards delighted their fans with a dominant 3-1 victory over Bidco United.

Raboama Kaloti gave Ingwe the perfect start, scoring within the first minute. Kaloti struck again just minutes later to make it 2-0, setting the tone for a rampant first half.

Simon Abuko pulled one back for Bidco United, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Kennedy Owino made it 3-1 before halftime.

Leopards managed the second half professionally to secure their 10th win of the season. They now sit fifth with 41 points, while Bidco United are struggling in 16th place, just above the relegation zone with 27 points.

Elsewhere, Kariobangi Sharks were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Bandari FC, while Posta Rangers edged Murang’a Seal 3-2 in a thrilling encounter.
