Mihic Frustrated With Lackluster Performance as Gor Mahia Misses Chance to Close the Gap
Gor Mahia head coach Sinisa Mihic did not hold back in his criticism following his team’s uninspiring 0-0 draw against Bidco United in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos. The Croatian tactician, visibly frustrated, called out his players for a lack of quality, warning of potential squad changes if performances do not improve.
With just three matches in charge since his appointment on February 1, Mihic is already showing his dissatisfaction with the squad’s inability to execute his tactical plans. His post-match comments highlighted deep concerns over the team’s technical ability, attacking play, and overall energy levels.
Mihic Slams Lack of Quality in the Squad
Speaking after the game, Mihic openly questioned whether some players deserve to wear the Gor Mahia jersey.
“We need to replace some players because they are not Gor Mahia material,” Mihic said bluntly. “Technically, the team is not okay in terms of passing and ball progression. I made changes, but nothing happened.”
His criticism extended beyond just the starting lineup, as he expressed disappointment in the substitutes, who he felt added no value to the game.
“When substitutes come on, they should bring something different. But today, some were just walking around the pitch. They added absolutely nothing,” he stated.
“To be brutally honest, we need 5 new players up front. We lack quality”

Forwards Under Fire for Lack of Impact
The attack has been a major concern for Mihic since his arrival, and the game against Bidco United further exposed the team’s weaknesses in front of goal. Despite having several chances, Gor Mahia failed to break down Bidco’s deep defensive line.
“We had to make changes because Bryson (Wangai), Charles (Bbale), and Samuel (Kapen) were not performing well. They might be mad at me, but that is the truth,” Mihic said. “The players who came on did not change anything. We need professionals who can make a difference.”
The lack of attacking firepower has been a recurring issue for K’Ogalo this season. With the team now five points behind FKFPL leaders Kenya Police, the failure to capitalize on their rivals’ slip-up against Mathare United could prove costly.
Defensive Weaknesses Also a Concern
Mihic did not stop at criticizing the forwards, also highlighting defensive shortcomings that have left the team vulnerable.
“Our back four lacked speed, which is why we played better with full-backs,” he explained. “We struggled to break them down because they sat deep and hit us on the counter. Our energy levels were poor—they had an extra day of rest, and it showed.”
This raises concerns ahead of the much-anticipated Mashemeji Derby against AFC Leopards on Sunday, March 2. With their attack struggling and defensive frailties exposed, Gor Mahia will need a significant improvement to compete against their arch-rivals.
Fans Question Readiness for the Mashemeji Derby
The goalless draw against Bidco has left Gor Mahia fans frustrated, with many questioning whether the team is ready for the high-stakes showdown against AFC Leopards.
With their title hopes still alive but under threat, Mihic’s harsh words could serve as a wake-up call. The coach’s brutally honest remarks might inspire the squad to step up, or they could deepen the rift within the dressing room.
One thing is clear—Mihic demands nothing less than excellence, and if his team fails to meet his standards, big changes could be on the horizon.
