FKFPL : Police aim to end Homeboyz’ unbeaten home run as Shabana face struggling Bidco

Matchday 31 of the FKF Premier League kicks off on Wednesday, with seven key fixtures set to shape both ends of the table as the 2024/2025 season nears its climax. From top-of-the-table clashes to relegation battles, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Police Target Crucial Win to Tighten Grip on Top Spot

All eyes will be on the Mumias Sports Complex when league leaders Kenya Police FC visit in-form Kakamega Homeboyz at 2 PM.

The Law Enforcers come into the clash on the back of three consecutive wins against KCB, Kariobangi Sharks, and Bandari. Currently on 58 points, they hold a three-point cushion over second-placed Tusker FC, with Gor Mahia sitting third on 53 but with a game in hand—the much-anticipated Mashemeji Derby.

Victory over Homeboyz could take Police to 61 points and potentially widen the gap if Tusker slip up against FC Talanta in Machakos. But Etienne Ndayiragije’s men face a daunting task against a side that has not tasted defeat at home since September 2024.

Homeboyz are unbeaten in their last nine league outings and have made Mumias a fortress under head coach Francis Baraza. Their first-leg clash ended 1-1, remembered for a late equalizer that led to former Police goalkeeper Patrick Matasi losing his place—and eventually his contract.

Despite the title talk building, Ndayiragije remains calm and focused.

Right now, it looks like Police have the trophy in their hands, but we haven’t won it yet. We’re taking one game at a time. There’s still a lot of football to be played,” he said.

Shabana vs Bidco: Survival on the Line in Kisii

At Gusii Stadium, Shabana FC will host Bidco United in another high-stakes clash with implications on both the title and relegation race. Kickoff is at 2 PM.

Shabana, nicknamed the Glamour Boys, sit nine points off the top and any dropped points could officially rule them out of the title picture. Still, Peter Okidi’s side has overachieved this season, and a strong finish could secure a top-five finish.

On the other end, Bidco are fighting for survival. The Thika-based outfit occupies the playoff spot on 29 points and could fall into the drop zone should Murang’a Seal or Nairobi City Stars pick up wins.

With one win apiece in their last three league meetings, the first-leg encounter ended in a 1-1 draw. Bidco head coach Anthony Akhulia knows what’s at stake.

With our current position, we don’t have the luxury of taking any game lightly. We need points—and we’re heading to Kisii with a clear objective,” said Akhulia.

Leopards, Mathare Clash in Dandora With Different Goals

At 4 PM, AFC Leopards will battle Mathare United at Dandora Stadium. The once title-chasing Ingwe have endured a poor run in 2025, winning just four games since January.

Now out of contention, they are playing for pride and a possible top-five finish under Fred Ambani. Mathare, meanwhile, are still looking over their shoulders, just eight points above the relegation zone.

A win here would all but confirm top-flight survival for the Slum Boys, but it won’t be easy. Leopards hammered them 4-0 in the reverse fixture and will be eyeing a repeat.

Other Fixtures Across the Country

  • FC Talanta vs Tusker FC1 PM, Dandora Stadium
Tusker need to keep pace with Police at the top. Anything less than a win could hand the initiative to the Law Enforcers.

  • Ulinzi Stars vs Posta Rangers1 PM, Ulinzi Sports Complex
A mid-table battle with both teams looking to end the season strong.

  • Mara Sugar vs Bandari FC2 PM, Awendo Green Stadium
Mara Sugar are looking to bounce back from inconsistent form, while Bandari hope to salvage a top-six finish.

  • Murang’a Seal vs Sofapaka3 PM, St. Sebastian Park
A relegation six-pointer. Sofapaka’s survival hopes hinge on this game as Murang’a look to drag themselves out of danger.

With only three games left after this round, Wednesday’s matches could prove pivotal in shaping who lifts the trophy, who snatches continental spots, and who suffers the drop. Each team now knows—every point counts.
