Shabana alias Glamour boys defeated the Dockers from Mombasa 3-1 in a thrilling FKF Premier League match on Sunday afternoon
Shabana FC delivered a stunning 3-1 win over Bandari FC at a rain-soaked Gusii Stadium on Sunday, climbing to fourth place in the FKF Premier League standings and reigniting their charge towards the top of the table. The match, played under heavy rainfall and in front of a vibrant home crowd, showcased Shabana’s growing confidence and ambition in their debut top-flight season.
This latest result marks the second consecutive victory for Peter Okidi’s side, who are now just three points behind defending champions Gor Mahia. After dispatching Murang’a Seal 3-0 last weekend, the Glamour Boys followed up with another dominant performance that underlined their title credentials.
Shabana started the game with purpose and energy, pressing Bandari high up the pitch. Their early pressure paid off in the 23rd minute when rising star Austine Odongo opened the scoring. The youngster, who has now netted three goals in his last two matches, coolly slotted past Bandari goalkeeper Bryne Omondi to give the hosts a deserved lead.

Despite Bandari’s attempt to respond quickly—most notably through Geoffrey Ojunga, who was denied in a one-on-one situation by Shabana goalkeeper Maxwell Mulili—the Dockers struggled to match the intensity and composure of their opponents.
After halftime, Shabana doubled their advantage. A well-taken free-kick by Brian Michira found the head of Mark Okolla, who powered home his first goal of the season to make it 2-0. The timing of the goal was perfect, just minutes into the second half, giving Shabana control of the game.

Bandari’s head coach, Ken Odhiambo, had earlier downplayed the intimidation factor of the Gusii Stadium, urging his players to “enjoy the music” of the passionate crowd. But the combination of noisy supporters and torrential rain proved overwhelming for the visitors, who never really found their rhythm.
To their credit, Bandari pulled one back with just over 20 minutes to play. Joseph Otieno floated a pinpoint cross into the box, where Ali Juma Halafu was waiting to head it in, cutting the deficit and briefly giving the away side hope.
However, Shabana refused to let their grip slip. In the closing stages of the match, substitute Nehemiah Onchiri took full advantage of a poor back-pass from the Bandari defense. He intercepted the loose ball and calmly side-footed it past the helpless Omondi to restore a two-goal cushion and seal a vital win for the hosts.

With this victory, Shabana now sit in fourth place in the FKF Premier League with 41 points. Their recent form has made them one of the most exciting sides to watch in the league, and with seven games remaining, they could yet make a late push for the title.
Meanwhile, it was a day to forget for Tusker FC, who failed to capitalize on a slip-up by table leaders Kenya Police. Playing away in Awendo, the Brewers were held to a 1-1 draw by 11th-placed Mara Sugar, missing a golden opportunity to climb to the summit of the league.
Tusker took the lead in the second half through forward Chris Erambo, who found the net with a composed finish. But Charles Okere’s men failed to kill off the match, and their defensive lapses were punished when Samuel Odaro equalized for Mara Sugar in the 69th minute.

The draw leaves Tusker in second place, now just one point behind Kenya Police, who were held 2-2 by Nairobi City Stars earlier in the weekend. With the title race heating up, every point counts, and Tusker will rue dropping two crucial ones on the road.
Elsewhere, there were mixed results across the league. Kariobangi Sharks edged Talanta FC 2-1 in an entertaining match, while Murang’a Seal played out a 1-1 draw with Bidco United.
As the FKF Premier League enters its final stretch, the competition for top spots is becoming increasingly intense. Shabana’s incredible rise is adding a new dimension to the title race, while established teams like Tusker and Gor Mahia face growing pressure to stay ahead of the pack.
With exciting young talents like Austine Odongo stepping up and teams like Shabana proving they can beat the best, the 2024/25 FKF Premier League season is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable and thrilling in recent years.
