NCBA Golf Series 2024 Grand Finale: Over 230 Golfers Compete for Top Honours at Muthaiga Golf Club

The stage is set for the highly anticipated 2024 NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale, taking place on Friday, November 29, at the prestigious Muthaiga Golf Club. This par-71, 18-hole course will host over 230 golfers from across East Africa, all of whom earned their spots during the qualifying phase at their respective clubs. With exciting prizes and the prestige of the series at stake, this finale promises to deliver an unforgettable day of golfing excellence.

A Season of Growth and Regional Expansion

Since its launch in March 2024 at the Kenya Railway Golf Club, the NCBA Golf Series has seen remarkable growth, hosting 34 tournaments across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. This year marked the inclusion of Rwanda in the series, further solidifying its position as a premier golfing event in the region.

Over 3,500 golfers participated throughout the year, highlighting the series’ broad appeal and commitment to fostering a vibrant golfing community. NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora emphasized the series’ impact, stating:

“The Grand Finale marks the culmination of a very successful series that has evolved further, featuring an impressive 34 tournaments held across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and, for the first time, Rwanda. Our tournaments brought together over 3,000 golfers, underscoring our vision of leveraging sport as a unifying force and a platform for shared experiences.”

What’s at Stake in the Grand Finale?

The Grand Finale will feature competitions in multiple categories, including overall, men’s, ladies’, and juniors’ divisions. Top competitors in each category will be vying for significant rewards:

  • Overall Winner
  • Men’s Winner
  • Ladies’ Winner

Each of these top performers will receive an NCBA Unit Trust worth Ksh120,000, adding to the high stakes of the event.

Hole-in-One Prize: A Toyota FJ Cruiser

One of the standout attractions of the tournament is the hole-in-one challenge on the 13th hole. Courtesy of Khushi Motors, any golfer achieving this rare feat will drive away in a stunning Toyota FJ Cruiser.

  • Wambui Gitonga: The 2022 Ladies Winner from Limuru Country Club will be among the favorites. Gitonga previously won a fully funded trip to South Africa’s renowned Fancourt Golf Estate, underscoring her prowess on the course.
  • Mary Karano: Representing Vetlab, Karano will be looking to build on her past performances and challenge for top honours again this year.

A Commitment to Sustainability

Beyond the competition, the NCBA Golf Series continues to emphasize environmental conservation. In collaboration with host clubs, the series has donated indigenous tree seedlings as part of an ambitious initiative to plant 10 million trees by 2030. Return to the Home of Golf

This year’s Grand Finale marks the second time the event has been hosted at Muthaiga Golf Club, the home of golf in Kenya. Since the inaugural edition at Karen Country Club in 2021, the series has also featured finales at Muthaiga in 2022 and Sigona Golf Club in 2023. Returning to Muthaiga in 2024 adds to the venue’s legacy as a premier destination for high-profile golf events.
